Job summary

UT Health San Antonio in San Antonio, TX, is seeking a Cytogenetics Technician to coordinate and perform complex technical tasks involved in screening slides of clinical specimens to detect cancer or other conditions.

The role requires three years of cytogenetic experience, a NAACLS-accredited cytogenetics degree or related, and ASCP CG certification. You will prepare cultures, perform FISH and karyotyping, maintain QA/QC records, and contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of cytogenetic experience is required.
• Experience with tissue culture prep and harvest.
• Ability to communicate complex Genetics concepts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissue culture specimens using cytogenetics culturing procedures.
• Perform slide preparation for chromosome analysis and FISH testing.
• Carry out microscopy, karyotyping, FISH scoring, and ISCN-based reporting.
• Maintain QA/QC documentation for specimens and reagents.
• Contribute to process improvement validation studies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
