Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise security technologies across SSE, Zero Trust, and Zscaler-focused initiatives. The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, architecture-to-implementation ownership, and collaboration across security, network, cloud, and identity teams.

The ideal candidate will have extensive enterprise security experience, strong networking troubleshooting skills, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on cybersecurity engineering experience across SSE/SASE, Zero Trust, network security, cloud security, or related enterprise security technologies.
• Strong experience with Zscaler technologies (ZIA, ZPA, ZCC, ZDX) and policy troubleshooting.
• Experience with enterprise identity and cloud technologies (AD/Entra, SAML, OAuth/OIDC, MFA, Conditional Access).
• Ability to lead complex security implementations & production troubleshooting from architecture through handoff.

Responsibilities

• Own complex technical issues with a methodical, evidence-based approach to root-cause analysis.
• Translate architecture direction into scalable technical solutions, considering risks and operational concerns.
• Lead cross-functional troubleshooting across cybersecurity, network, cloud, identity, and infrastructure teams.
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders and vendors.
• Mentor engineers and improve automation, reliability, and operational processes.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field
