Job summary

MITRE seeks a Principal Cyber Intelligence Engineer to join our Cyber Threat Intelligence team in Massachusetts. You will lead research and development, guide projects, and collaborate across MITRE to advance cyber intelligence capabilities for government and private sector sponsors.

You’ll apply threat analysis, mentor teams, and help evolve MITRE ATT&CK usage, CTI tools, and adversary profiling. This position requires seasoned expertise, Top Secret eligibility, and a four‑day‑per‑week on‑site

Qualifications

• 10+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's, 8y with a Master's, or 5y with a PhD.
• Knowledge of adversary tradecraft and use of cyber operations.
• Experience with U.S. government cybersecurity agencies and intelligence community.
• Strong leadership and communication to mentor teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Demonstrated use of MITRE ATT&CK within operational environments.
• Familiarity with all-source intelligence databases and analytic tools.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance; U.S. citizen required.
• Position requires a minimum of four days on-site per week.

Responsibilities

• Apply cyber intelligence expertise to sponsor challenges, including defensive operations and infrastructure analysis.
• Guide sponsors in building/advancing cyber intel capabilities and programs.
• Review sponsor tools and recommend best practices, analytic methodologies, and AI integration.
• Propose R&D to advance CTI state of the art and use MITRE ATT&CK to inform decisions.
• Develop approaches to integrate CTI with threat hunting, detection, and incident response.
