Job summary

Savannah River National Laboratory in Aiken, SC seeks a senior cybersecurity professional to lead, advance, and apply cyber defenses across missions. This role emphasizes discovery, design, and development of innovative solutions that advance the state of the art.

The position requires a BS/BA with 7–9 years of direct cybersecurity experience, one general and one technical certification, and US citizenship with the ability to obtain a DOE clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 7-9 years of direct cybersecurity/cyber engineering experience.
• 1 general cybersecurity certification and 1 technical certification required.
• Strong understanding of security architectures, encryption standards, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network security.
• Hands-on experience applying and enforcing STIGs and SRGs.
• Proficiency with SIEM (e.g., Splunk), vulnerability assessments, endpoint protection, and security frameworks.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain DOE security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide cyber-technical expertise through cyber analytical activities and evaluation of security systems.
• Diagnoses issues using a systematic and methodical approach.
• Mentor and train subordinates as needed to strengthen team capabilities.
• Initiate improvements for the function and align to department goals.
• Arrive at conclusions based on experience and sound judgment.
