Job summary

Dexcom, a leader in continuous glucose monitoring, seeks a Sr. Staff Cyber Defense Engineer to lead Enterprise Cyber Defense architecture and detection engineering.

You will guide cross-functional initiatives, define telemetry standards, and drive readiness across detection and response with senior technical leadership. The role requires deep expertise in SIEM, SOAR, XDR/EDR, NDR, and cloud security, plus hands-on coding in Python/PowerShell and data query skills.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 13+ years related experience or a Master’s degree and 8+ years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 5+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Influence technical strategy and roadmap for Enterprise Cyber Defense capabilities, aligned to business risk and security priorities.
• Establish design principles, telemetry standards, integration patterns, and engineering practices across cyber defense platforms and data sources.
• Own the enterprise detection engineering lifecycle, including detection logic, correlation rules, telemetry requirements, validation, tuning, and measurable efficacy.
• Design and engineer cyber defense capabilities, including advanced detections, telemetry integrations, SOAR workflows, and agentic response patterns with human oversight.
• Lead major cross-functional cyber defense initiatives and technology transformations, resolving dependencies and tradeoffs.
• Provide senior technical leadership during complex cyber incidents and emerging risk scenarios, driving root-cause analysis and durable improvements.
• Define the technical approach for threat hunting and adversary validation using threat intel, red/purple team findings, and simulations.
• Drive cyber readiness engineering through exercises, playbook validation, escalation testing, and remediation of defensive gaps.
• Translate technical risk for senior leaders and mentor engineers and analysts to strengthen technical maturity.
