Job summary

EMAM in Anderson, South Carolina seeks a Customs Clearance Specialist to manage full‑cycle U.S. import/export clearance, ensuring CBP compliance and coordinating with brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and internal teams for timely, compliant shipments.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, 3+ years in U.S. customs clearance, English fluency, and proficiency with ACE/ABI and major platforms. On-site work with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in International Trade, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
• At least three years of hands‑on experience in U.S. import/export customs clearance, with familiarity with 19 CFR and CBP processes.
• Fluency in English.
• Proficiency in ACE, ABI, and major customs platforms (Integration Point, Descartes, WiseTech, or comparable systems).

Responsibilities

• Handle U.S. import and export customs declaration, inspection, and clearance procedures per laws and licensing requirements.
• Review invoices, packing lists, B/Ls, origin certificates, and clearance docs for accuracy.
• Monitor clearance status and address exceptions, including CBP notices.
• Coordinate with licensed brokers, forwarders, carriers, and warehousing providers.
• Stay current on CBP rulings and trade policy changes.
• Establish and maintain customs clearance SOPs for internal audits.
• Review HS codes, duty rates, and other customs data for accuracy.
• Identify process improvements and cost reductions through data analysis.
