Job summary

Trade Compliance Recruiting Solutions is seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist for an in-office role near Houston, TX. You will oversee day-to-day import/export compliance, align with CBP and EAR rules, and support cross-functional teams to ensure policy adherence.

Responsibilities include preparing import/export documents, monitoring broker performance, filing EEI via AES, and assisting audits. A US citizen with a relevant background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with EAR, CBP, HTS, and Schedule B.
• Licensed US Customs Broker (LCB) preferred.
• Experience with steel commodities including pipe, fittings, flanges, and valves.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong analytical and multi-tasking skills.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen able to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance.

HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW

The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for day-to-day oversight of transactional import and export compliance, ensuring goods are imported, exported, and shipped in compliance with corporate policies, CBP & EAR rules and regulations.
This is an in-office position based near Houston, TX.

EXPECTATIONS

• Analyze import documentation for completeness and compliance with CBP requirements
• Prepare import documents for the customs broker
• Monitor customs broker performance against SOPs and compliance KPIs
• Prepare export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, and carnets
• File Electronic Export Information (EEI) via the Automated Export System (AES)
• Track and report the status of all imports and exports
• Maintain records and reports of all imports
• Provide import and export guidance to cross-functional teams
• Assist the Trade Compliance Manager with investigations and audits

ESSENTIALS

• Licensed US Customs Broker (LCB) preferred
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5+ years of experience with the EAR, CBP, HTS, and Schedule B
• Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers
• Experience with steel commodities including pipe, fittings, flanges, and valves
• Strong understanding of the EAR, HTS, and Section 232 and 301 tariffs and exemptions
• Proficiency with MS Office and ERP software and reporting
• Strong communication, analytical, and multi-tasking skills
• Must be a U.S. Citizen able to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance
