Job summary

Harford County Public Schools seeks a Chief Custodian (Level IV) for Aberdeen High School. The role oversees a multi-campus custodial program, maintains boilers and HVAC systems, conducts safety inspections, and coordinates staff across our largest school facilities.

A strong supervisory background and a Fourth Grade Stationary Engineer’s License are required. Applicants should have pesticide certification, read requisitions, manage supplies, and be capable of supervising staff while ensuring

Qualifications

Three years of custodial, mechanical, or related trade experience with at least two years in a supervisory role.
Must hold and maintain a Fourth Grade Stationary Engineer’s License issued by the Maryland State Board.
Attend pesticide application training and maintain a HCPS pesticide applicator card.
Read and prepare requisitions; manage ordering, receipt, storage and security of supplies.

Responsibilities

Oversees facilities across large school campuses, including events and safety checks.
Maintains boilers, HVAC systems, and related equipment; performs safety inspections.
Directs custodial staff, assigns tasks, and follows up on work performed.
Coordinates after-school custodial supports and snow removal efforts.
Inspects outside contractors and ensures compliance with safety and security standards.
