Job summary

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years of applicable custodial work experience.
• Ability to lead others in custodial work.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English. Experience using standard custodial equipment, dispensing chemicals safely and an understanding of safe custodial practices.
• A work record clear of disciplinary actions and that demonstrates strong performance and positive leadership skills.
• Ability to shovel snow and perform non-routine project work such as carpet extraction, floor scrubbing, floor finish application, window washing, deep cleaning, etc.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds. Must not have any current Disciplinary Action on record.
• Demonstrated knowledge of proper safe custodial procedures.
• Ability to observe all safety rules and regulations.
• Ability to prioritize workload demands to reflect urgency of tasks.

Responsibilities

• The safe and effective use and care of custodial tools, equipment, and products.
• The safe and effective performance of routine and non-routine (project) custodial tasks.
• The completion of special requests and follow-up to any quality improvement opportunities that are identified.
• The prioritization of tasks during staff shortages, inclement weather, or department events.
• The performance of administrative tasks such as clocking in/out, requesting time off, etc.
• Ensuring completion of all required training sessions.
• Monitor the squad's equipment, tools, and supplies for condition and stock levels and report needs to the supervisor.
• Assist with routine care and maintenance of the squad's tools and equipment.
• Assist in monitoring work performance and interactions between squad members with a culture of respect and accountability.
• Assess the condition of the assigned area(s) and adjust squad efforts for Condition Based Cleaning.
• Perform routine and non-routine (project) duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Disseminate information from the supervisor to the assigned B&G Workers & Student Workers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
