Job summary

PRATT & WHITNEY seeks an experienced Structural Analysis Engineer for the Compression Systems Engineering team in Middletown, CT. You will provide structures analytical support for gas-turbine compressor components, using FEM and classical methods to assess strength, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.

Travel about 10% and lead less experienced engineers while coordinating cross-functional design solutions.

Qualifications

BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 8+ years of experience.
Advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
Experience with FEM for stress/deflection, vibration, and damage tolerance analyses.
U.S. citizenship is required to access program information.

Responsibilities

Provide structures analytical support for gas-turbine compressor components (HPC).
Perform design analysis through development, validation, certification, and manufacturing.
Use FE and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
Support validation testing (engine and rig) and data-reduction.
Participate on multi-discipline teams to balance durability, performance, cost and weight.
Provide leadership oversight for less experienced engineers and outsourced tasks.
Coordinate with others to advance technology and improve processes.
Document and present results to management and customers.
Travel requirements ~10%.
