Job summary

PRATT & WHITNEY seeks an experienced Structural Analysis Engineer for the Compression Systems Engineering team in Middletown, CT. You will provide structures analytical support for gas-turbine compressor components, using FEM and classical methods to assess strength, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.

Travel about 10% and lead less experienced engineers while coordinating cross-functional design solutions.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 8+ years of experience.
• Advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Experience with FEM for stress/deflection, vibration, and damage tolerance analyses.
• U.S. citizenship is required to access program information.

Responsibilities

• Provide structures analytical support for gas-turbine compressor components (HPC).
• Perform design analysis through development, validation, certification, and manufacturing.
• Use FE and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
• Support validation testing (engine and rig) and data-reduction.
• Participate on multi-discipline teams to balance durability, performance, cost and weight.
• Provide leadership oversight for less experienced engineers and outsourced tasks.
• Coordinate with others to advance technology and improve processes.
• Document and present results to management and customers.
• Travel requirements ~10%.
