Job summary

Chart Industries, located in Buffalo, NY, seeks a Senior Field Service Technician to perform on-site technical support for Howden equipment. The role requires traveling up to 80% in North America and occasional international travel.

You will ensure safety, complete reports, and drive solutions for customers. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in millwright/maintenance/engineering roles, strong customer relations, and proficiency with vibration analysis and laser alignment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant technical background including millwright, maintenance, engineering, and/or field service experience.
• Solid understanding of product/service offerings and customer base.
• Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with customers, employees and Sales Reps.
• High moral and ethical standards; integrity is continuously apparent.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products – Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Strong interpersonal skills – active listener, clear and concise communicator; collaboration skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Comfortable working in the “virtual world”
• Experience with servicing highly engineered equipment and products.
• Some technical schooling toward a degree in a technical area.
• Progressive responsibility in prior roles.
• Experience specifying replacement parts and in industrial sales/technical selling.
• Troubleshoot vibration, system and aerodynamic problems.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical support during repair and/or installation of Howden’s equipment to ensure standards are met.
• Ensure safe work practices and report all safety incidents and near misses promptly.
• Improve responsiveness to customers by making sales calls, performing technical walkdowns, and offering solutions.
• Complete required reports, including Service Reports, Customer Call Reports and Time Sheets, promptly for accurate invoicing.
• Suggest process improvements to improve data accuracy and response time.
• Maintain standards of service per Department Guidelines and Procedures.
• Maintain proficiency with vibration analysis and laser alignment equipment.
• When needed, support in-house manufacturing to meet customer needs during peak periods.
• Generate sales leads and grow the installed base of Howden Aftermarket.
• Gather site information for CRM and increase global visibility of Aftermarket in CRM.
• Maintain close relationships with customers to leverage market knowledge for additional services/products.
