Senior Critical Power Systems Technician – Switchgear

Job summary

CPG seeks a highly skilled Critical Systems Technician IV to support mission-critical electrical services for data centers in the San Antonio area. The role focuses on installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and operation of power distribution equipment.

You will work with project teams, perform QA/QC, and provide technical leadership while traveling up to 50% to client sites. A strong background in switchgear and electrical power systems is required.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent (Preferred).
• Associates/Bachelor in electronics, electrical theory, or similar discipline is highly desirable or equivalent work experience.
• Two to Five years of Mission Critical Electrical Systems experience.
• 3-5 years of field repair/customer service experience with electrical/electro-mechanical equipment or mission-critical products.
• Experience with electrical power distribution equipment (UPS, switchgear, batteries, generators).

Responsibilities

• Review technical specs with sales and PMs to identify field operations scope.
• Interface with services team to ensure spec compliance.
• Provide job-specific technical support.
• Interface with factory to resolve site issues.
• QA/QC of Power Distribution Equipment.
• Create Critical Power System MOPs/SOPs/EOPs.
• Perform preventive maintenance on contracted gear.
• Install and service Power Distribution Equipment.
• Troubleshoot distribution and transmission controls.
• Perform testing of Low/Med/High voltage switchgear and breakers.
• Read and verify relay settings and diagrams.
• Provide status reports to PM and Director, Service Operations.
