Mariner Finance is seeking a Senior Risk Management Analyst – Credit Strategy to lead and support underwriting strategies for a national network of branches and an online portfolio.

You will use SAS, SQL, Python, and R to optimize lending decisions, evaluate risk, and report on performance to senior management. The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement of risk controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field with exceptional academic record.
• 4+ years of credit risk management experience, including 1 year in customer acquisition/underwriting strategy in digital/online space.
• Experience in consumer lending and knowledge of related regulatory matters.
• Advanced knowledge of SAS, SQL, or similar tools.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or similar tools.
• Strong Excel skills (pivots, formulas, macros) and MS Office overall.
• Ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain credit risk and analytical strategies using SAS, R, and Python to optimize lending decisions across channels.
• Evaluate and validate lending decisions and marketing outreach with improved segmentation.
• Design tests and challenge strategies to improve volume vs risk trade-offs.
• Maintain up-to-date inventory of underwriting strategies.
• Inform executives about the impact of strategies on performance and risk appetite.
• Ensure bookings align with lifetime return expectations and funding strategy.
• Prepare risk reports and monitor key trends.
• Partner with other functions to implement policies and controls for underwriting.
• Represent Risk in cross-functional projects and drive priorities.
• Lead and plan project work and mentor team members.
• Perform additional duties as needed.
