SMBC Group is seeking a credit risk professional in New York to review and challenge credit applications for Middle Market lending, including leveraged loans and complex deals. You will prepare executive summaries and coordinate with the Credit Department to ensure rigorous risk assessment and compliance with internal policies.

Lead engagement with front office for due diligence and deal structuring, and communicate key credit risks to management.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant work experience in credit risk (second line of defense preferred).
• Experience with middle market leverage loans and non-investment grade borrowers is highly preferred.
• Experience interacting with US regulators (Fed, OCC, FDIC) is advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Review and challenge credit applications submitted by the front office.
• Prepare executive summaries and recommendations for Credit Department management.
• Engage with front office for due diligence and structuring, identifying key credit risks.
• Coordinate the credit approval process between front office and Credit Department management.
• Provide guidance to business units to ensure policy compliance.
• Monitor problem assets and prepare memoranda for management.
• Contribute to portfolio and loan reviews and special credit reviews.
