Job summary

SMBC in New York is seeking a Director to lead Credit Portfolio Management, overseeing underwriting, portfolio monitoring, risk ratings, regulatory classification, and exposure management. You will manage a team of credit professionals and influence policy and governance across CPM.

You will partner with Front Office, Risk, Legal and Compliance to drive timely risk outcomes, enhance analytics, and apply technology and data insights to portfolio decisions while meeting US regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Expert understanding of corporate credit risk, portfolio management, and underwriting.
Experience with US lending regulations and credit governance.
10+ years of relevant experience in banking/credit analysis.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent; MBA is a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead credit underwriting, portfolio management, and transaction execution.
Manage a team of credit professionals with leadership and coaching.
Oversee preparation and review of credit applications, annual/quarterly reviews, and monitoring reports.
Ensure compliance with policies, risk ratings, and regulatory requirements.
Drive portfolio risk management and maintain effective controls and governance.
