Apple Inc. is seeking an experienced CPU Performance Architect for Platform Architecture in Austin. The role focuses on exploring and modeling advanced CPU features to drive future Apple Silicon roadmaps.

You will lead performance studies, collaborate across CPU, RTL, and performance teams, and influence architectural directions based on workloads. Requirements include BS with 20+ years in the industry, strong C/C++, and scripting proficiency.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in CPU architecture design or performance modeling.
• Strong technical leadership and collaboration skills.
• Deep CPU micro-architecture knowledge and understanding of competing architectures.
• Experience working in a performance modeling environment.
• Proficient in C and C++.
• Proficient in scripting languages (Perl, Python, Ruby).
• Ability to tackle problems and prove ideas.
• Knowledge of common performance benchmarks and workloads.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with CPU micro-architecture and RTL teams to identify product improvements.
• Analyze workloads to identify performance bottlenecks and opportunities.
• Coordinate with cross-functional groups to define long-term exploration areas for Apple.
• Evaluate architectural and ISA changes for targeted areas.
• Conduct self-guided performance simulations and mentor others.
