Samsung Semiconductor in San Jose seeks a Senior CPU Architecture & Performance Engineer to drive microarchitectural research and performance modeling for next‑gen CPU architectures. You will analyze workloads, refine models, and collaborate with RTL teams from modeling to silicon validation, owning a domain end-to-end.

The role offers ownership across architecture research with opportunities to publish and contribute to patents, in a setting focused on AI-driven workflows and data-center

Qualifications

• Master’s with Computer Architecture, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience or PhD in Computer Architecture/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 1+ years of experience in CPU microarchitecture or performance engineering; strong understanding of CPU pipelines and memory systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Staff and Principal Engineers to own a microarchitectural domain from idea to validation.
• Participate in design implementation and validation using AI-driven methodologies.
• Run architectural simulations and performance models; analyze IPC, CPI stacks, latency, and throughput.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and optimization opportunities across front-end, mid-end, and back-end.
• Characterize workloads and benchmarks to understand performance behavior and opportunities.
• Develop scripts and tools to automate performance analysis and exploration.
