Job summary

Intel Corporation, a leading technology company, is seeking a Senior CPU Architecture and Benchmarking Engineer in Hillsboro, Oregon. The role focuses on designing targeted microbenchmarks, analyzing microarchitectural behavior, and translating findings into actionable architectural guidance.

You will work closely with silicon labs, simulation teams, and software groups to improve pre-silicon models and post-silicon measurements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science with 8+ years of industry experience, or Master's with 6+ years.
• Deep understanding of out-of-order CPU microarchitecture, including pipeline stages, memory hierarchy, and power/performance interactions.
• Experience designing and interpreting low-level microbenchmarks for CPU characterization.
• Proficiency in assembly and performance tooling (EMON/PMU, VTune) and scripting.
• Strong C/C++ and Python for benchmark development and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and analyze pinpointed microbenchmarks to explore low-level microarchitectural behavior.
• Investigate microarchitectural details through benchmarking and analysis.
• Evaluate OS schedulers, runtimes, compilers, and firmware impacts on performance and power.
• Identify gaps and propose architectural solutions and mitigations.
• Collaborate with silicon lab, simulation, and RTL teams to correlate findings with models.
• Develop tooling and analysis frameworks to support repeatable benchmarking workflows.
