Job summary

Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. seeks an experienced Senior Coverage Counsel to join our National Claims Counsel team. The role provides legal opinions, advice, and resolution strategies on coverage and extra-contractual issues in our insurance policies.

The position is full-time and exempt, with flexible work options to operate remotely or from our Worcester, MA office. A JD and admission to practice in at least one US jurisdiction are required, with 10+ years in property & casualty coverage

Qualifications

• Significant experience preparing coverage opinions on property and casualty policies.
• Experience litigating insurance coverage and related bad faith disputes is a plus.
• 10+ years of practice in law firm or in-house focused on property & casualty coverage.

Responsibilities

• Research and provide legal advice on coverage issues arising from the company’s insurance contracts.
• Prepare coverage opinions/advice for high complexity/exposure claims.
• Collaborate with claim handlers to develop strategies to resolve coverage disputes.
• May manage selective coverage litigation and review proposed coverage actions on behalf of the company.
