Akebia is seeking a Senior Counsel (Sr. Director) to lead legal support for R&D and Supply Chain, reporting to the SVP, Legal & Chief Compliance Officer.

You will partner with research, manufacturing and procurement teams to draft, negotiate and interpret complex agreements and to manage risk across programs. Based in Cambridge, MA with hybrid work as offices relocate to Waltham, this role requires extensive experience in life sciences contracting and strategic negotiation with senior

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and MA bar in good standing.
• 10+ years in life sciences with a mix of large law firm and in-house experience.
• Experience drafting, negotiating and interpreting a broad range of agreements.
• Advising senior stakeholders on risk-based terms and strategies.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, solution-oriented legal advice to R&D, Manufacturing and Supply Chain leaders.
• Draft, negotiate, review and interpret supply, quality, clinical trial and license agreements.
• Coordinate with cross-functional partners to align contracting with business initiatives and resolve disputes.
• Manage and mentor members of the legal team and external counsel as needed.
• Support program teams for clinical assets and contribute to strategic planning.
• Monitor regulatory changes and communicate risk implications to the business.
