Akebia Therapeutics in Cambridge, MA (with relocation to Waltham, MA) seeks a Senior Counsel (Sr. Director) for Legal, R&D and Supply Chain to partner with senior leaders and manage key contracts across R&D, manufacturing and supply chain. The role emphasizes risk-based advice and strategic collaboration to advance a robust biopharmaceutical pipeline.

The ideal candidate will hold a D. from an accredited law school, MA bar admission, and 10+ years in life sciences with experience negotiating

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admitted to practice in good standing in Massachusetts.
• At least 10 years’ experience in life sciences with mix of law firm and in-house experience.
• Experience drafting/negotiating licenses, clinical trial, supply, and master service agreements.

Responsabilités

• Serve as strategic business partner for R&D, Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams.
• Draft, negotiate, review and interpret a broad range of agreements (supply, quality, clinical, license).
• Liaise with internal teams and partners to align on initiatives and resolve disputes.
• Manage and mentor direct report(s) and other legal team members.
• Participate in program teams for clinical assets and in strategic planning.
• Review decks and disclosures for investors, including securities filings.
• Coordinate with procurement and cross-functional partners on contracting processes.
• Oversee outside counsel as needed.
