Job summary

Akebia is seeking a Director of Procurement and Sourcing based in Cambridge, MA, with relocation to Waltham later this year. The role leads global contracting, vendor negotiations, and strategic sourcing to support clinical trials and commercialization of our kidney disease therapies.

You will partner with Finance, Legal and cross‑functional teams to drive cost effectiveness, ensure regulatory compliance, and advance processes across requisition‑to‑pay and supplier management in a fast‑growing

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in procurement in the life sciences industry.
• 10+ years in strategic sourcing and supplier management.
• Lead negotiator with process development and stakeholder collaboration.
• BA/BS required; MBA preferred.
• Familiarity with global pharmaceutical regulations (cGMP, GDP, GCP).
• Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the procurement and sourcing organizational structure to support current and future needs.
• Draft, review, revise and negotiate contracts with customers and suppliers.
• Lead contract negotiations and advise internal clients.
• Ensure contract risk is assessed and tracked; monitor requisition-to-pay turnaround times.
• Enhance procurement processes in collaboration with Finance and Legal.
• Oversee global contracting processes supporting clinical trials and commercialization.
