Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) is seeking a Senior Associate General Counsel to lead a wide range of legal matters essential to protecting CMHA’s interests. The role emphasizes proactive, organized, and solutions-oriented counsel with a focus on housing law, complex litigation, and compliance across multiple entities.

The ideal candidate has a Juris Doctorate, admission to OH and Federal bars, and at least ten years of legal experience, preferably in the public sector or housing

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree required.
• Admitted to Ohio and Federal Bar for the Northern District of Ohio.
• Minimum of ten years of legal experience; public sector or housing authority experience preferred.
• Knowledge of housing, real estate, construction, labor & employment, and related areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on housing, evictions, real estate, construction, labor and other matters.
• Represent CMHA in mediations, arbitrations, administrative hearings, trials and other court proceedings.
• Manage all phases of litigation from pleadings through appeals.
• Consult with external counsel as needed to manage litigation.
• Provide training on legal topics and risk mitigation.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts and transactional documents.
• Stay current on legal trends affecting CMHA’s operations.
