Job summary

CMHA is seeking a Senior Associate General Counsel to manage a broad portfolio of legal matters, provide strategic counsel, and ensure compliance across CMHA and its affiliates. The role emphasizes leadership in litigation, negotiations of contracts, regulatory guidance, and cross‑department collaboration.

A Juris Doctorate and admission to the Ohio and Federal bars are required, with a minimum of ten years in public sector or housing authority settings.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate and admission to Ohio and Federal Bar required.
• Minimum of ten years in legal practice, preferably in public sector or housing authority.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Knowledge of HUD regulations and housing law preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice across housing, evictions, real estate, construction, labor and employment, contracts, corporate, bankruptcy, and related areas.
• Represent CMHA in mediations, arbitrations, administrative hearings, and court proceedings.
• Manage all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and settlements.
• Collaborate with external counsel and conduct training for CMHA staff.
