Successful candidates will manage cases, supervise staff, and advise CHA departments while ensuring compliance with applicable policies and laws.

Qualifications

• Requires a Juris Doctor degree and Illinois bar admission in good standing.
• Licensed to practice in federal courts; at least ten years of litigation experience.
• Proven ability to write briefs, motions and engage in oral advocacy.
• Strong research, analytical and client service skills; professional integrity.

Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of litigation as lead/trial counsel in state and federal court and administrative forums.
• Supervise attorneys and non-attorney staff; train and review work; co-supervise internship program.
• Evaluate disputes at pre-litigation stage to determine best course of action.
• Provide research, analysis, and counsel on federal/state law, housing regulations, CHA policies, and ordinances.
• Advise CHA departments on achieving goals in compliance with policies and law.
• Assist Deputy General Counsel with managing matters and litigation; supervise teams and provide guidance.
• Perform additional duties to meet CHA and departmental needs.
