Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) is seeking a seasoned attorney to provide legal guidance to staff and the Board of Trustees. You will advise employers and members on IMRF participation, defend or manage non-disability administrative hearings, and oversee non-investment-related litigation.

The role requires Illinois bar admission, strong legal writing, and experience with administrative review or municipal pensions.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois with strong writing skills.
• Experience in administrative review matters; appellate experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Illinois Pension Code and government pensions a plus.
• Ability to interpret contracts and procurement rules; strong communication.

Responsabilités

• Defend administrative decisions of IMRF Board in state court.
• Serve as counsel to the Board and staff in hearings and proceedings.
• Respond to inquiries regarding the Illinois Pension Code.
• Review and advise staff on death, disability, retirement, and service claims.
• Provide counsel on employment law matters and contracts.
• Oversee procurement and the Trustee election process.
• Supervise the legal department and procurement staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
