Job summary

Patriot Bank is seeking a VP In-House Counsel for Litigation & Foreclosure to lead the bank's litigation portfolio, including foreclosure, bankruptcy, and creditor rights matters. This role reports to senior leadership and collaborates with lending, credit, and special assets teams.

The ideal candidate will manage outside counsel, assess risks, and provide strategic legal guidance across banking and regulatory matters while working in a fully remote environment.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction.
• Connecticut bar admission or eligibility preferred.
• 3–5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with a bank/financial institution.
• Experience handling foreclosure, bankruptcy, creditors' rights or commercial litigation.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the Bank's portfolio of commercial and consumer litigation matters, including foreclosure and related proceedings.
• Direct and supervise outside counsel, including budget management and litigation strategy.
• Evaluate legal risks and advise internal stakeholders on disputed matters.
• Partner with lending, credit, and servicing teams to resolve problem loans and maximize recoveries.
• Review pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and litigation-related correspondence.
• Provide guidance on foreclosure procedures, creditor rights, workouts, and bankruptcy matters.
• Assist with subpoenas, discovery requests, and governmental inquiries.
• Monitor developments impacting lending, collections, and creditor remedies.
• Support enterprise risk management and legal compliance efforts.
