Job summary

Travelers is seeking an Associate Senior Counsel to join the Claims, Legal team. You will independently handle a caseload of moderate to high complexity matters from inception through trial and appeal, leveraging your pre-trial and trial experience to achieve favorable outcomes for insured clients and the company.

You will mentor less experienced attorneys, collaborate with experts and consultants, provide training on case strategies, and contribute to office goals while representing Travelers

Qualifications

• 5+ years of insurance defense litigation experience is required or strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to handle jury trials or appellate matters.
• Strong oral and written advocacy skills.
• In-depth knowledge of local bench and bar practices.

Responsibilities

• Leverage pre-trial and trial experience to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolution.
• Conduct proficient to advanced legal research and demonstrate strong and persuasive writing and presentation skills.
• Draft substantive pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other legal documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and other appointments independently.
• Provide internal and external training, seminars and legal updates to insured clients and Claim partners.
• Mentor other attorneys and legal support staff.
• Travel as required to meet business needs.
