Job summary

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. is seeking a Counsel II, Sr. Principal attorney to lead litigation defense across Honda product lines, including complex product liability cases with high exposure.

The role involves handling ADAS-related matters and other vehicle-related litigation, coordinating defense strategy and managing outside counsel. Required are a J.D. from an ABA-accredited school, California Bar admission, and 5–6 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admittance to the California Bar.
• At least 5–6 years of heavy product liability experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Must have good knowledge of the law area they support.
• Substantial experience in managing projects, preferably high-volume pattern litigation.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality legal services and advice in a timely and cost-effective manner, to enable Honda divisions to meet legal obligations and reduce risk for complex legal matters.
• Prepare and coordinate litigation cases, develop defense strategy and provide the business with regular updates and advice, and manage outside counsel and expert fees to reach the best long-term solution for Honda in complex high-risk cases.
• Follow changes in all relevant federal and state laws and regulations, and exchange and share legal knowledge within the applicable Honda entity/division/department, as well as train Honda associates in legal best practices.
• Participate in the planning and execution of assigned AHM Law & IP projects with a regional focus.
