Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a transaction-focused attorney to join the Office of the General Counsel as Lead Counsel, Transactions and Market Compliance. This role provides practical legal support to Corporate Development, Supply Chain, Finance, and other functions on U.S.

and cross-border matters including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and strategic alliances. The candidate will lead or contribute to cross-functional transaction teams, draft and negotiate agreements,

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission: active member in good standing of at least one U.S. State Bar.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in U.S. and global mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and complex commercial transactions.
• Experience advising on complex commercial arrangements involving global supply chains.
• Experience negotiating and closing transactions with counterparties outside the United States.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and business judgment skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate legal concepts into business terms.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
• Collaborative team player with professional presence.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support legal workstreams on M&A, divestitures, carve-outs, joint ventures from diligence to post-closing.
• Draft, review, and negotiate transaction documents.
• Support Ford's global supply chain with supplier matters and process improvements.
• Negotiate with US and international counterparties and JV partners.
• Balance legal risk with commercial objectives and provide actionable recommendations.
• Advise management and prepare leadership briefing materials.
• Identify opportunities to use AI, automation, and legal tech in transactions.
• Coordinate with cross-functional legal teams worldwide.
• Manage outside counsel scope, budgets, timelines, and quality.
• Contribute to templates, playbooks, and precedent libraries.
• Support electrification, software/connectivity, energy, autonomy, and gov/defense programs.
