Job summary

Capital One seeks a Manager, Counsel for Enterprise Supplier Management. You will oversee procurement contracts across Technology, Card, Retail and other lines of business while advising the ESM team and managing a negotiation group in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

This hybrid role requires a JD, bar admission, 3+ years of experience in procurement/outsourcing, and exceptional drafting, negotiation, and communication skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders and outside

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active member in good standing of at least one state bar.
• At least 3 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm environment, at a government agency, as a military judge advocate, or as in-house counsel including experience with third party procurement, vendor or outsourcing transactions.

Responsibilities

• managing (including drafting and negotiating) procurement transactions that support Technology, Card, Retail and Commercial Bank, Auto Finance, Payment Network, Workplace Solutions, Brand, HR, Global Finance, and other lines of business and functional groups
• identifying legal issues and risks in procurement and outsourcing contracts and working with a variety of legal stakeholders to draft appropriate terms and conditions
• building and maintaining strong relationships with ESM and legal stakeholders
• managing repeatable, controlled processes for transactional work
• creating reports and providing training on key issues and processes, as needed
• acting as a backup Legal representative as needed in procurement risk gate meetings, exercising great judgment in determining whether a transaction is in scope for Legal engagement
