Job summary

PowerSecure, Inc. seeks an attorney to manage legal issues and coordinate compliance across unregulated subsidiaries, supporting project development and construction, and handling day-to-day contracting matters.

Hybrid role in Raleigh, NC requiring a JD, an active license (NC or other state), and at least seven years of legal experience with preference for energy, equipment procurement, or construction contracts. Ability to manage other attorneys and advise on risk mitigation is valued.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) Degree required.
• Current state license to practice law in North Carolina or another state.
• Minimum 7 years legal experience with focus on equipment supply, procurement, construction contracts, project development, manufacturing, or energy industry.
• Experience negotiating and drafting commercial contracts.
• Experience managing other attorneys and legal teams.
• Ability to review, draft, negotiate and advise on a broad range of commercial contracting matters.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Able to work with all levels of the organization.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrates initiative and can prioritize work.
• Able to handle confidential information appropriately.
• Independent worker and problem solver.

Responsibilities

• Primary legal support for day-to-day PowerSecure legal issues.
• Support contract formation and negotiation through all stages and contract types (purchase agreements, equipment, procurement and construction, long-term service, warranty, capital lease, confidentiality, and purchase orders).
• Support business development through acquisition, development and joint venture activities.
• Support miscellaneous contract interpretation and implementation questions.
• Review, draft, negotiate, and interpret power purchase agreements and similar energy sales contracts.
• Assist with legal support for partnership and joint venture administration, governance, and other issues.
• Support for compliance function.
• Identify contract obligations and ensure proper implementation and retention/management of contracts.
• Support internal board functions and organizational compliance.
