Job summary

Hirewell is seeking a Senior Counsel, Legal Affairs to join its in-house legal team. The role acts as a trusted advisor to staff, leadership, affiliates, and related entities on corporate and organizational matters.

This generalist position requires cross-functional collaboration across governance, employment, privacy, contracts, and nonprofit law. The Senior Counsel will guide on compliance, risk mitigation, and practical business-oriented solutions while supporting HR and internal policy

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, or eligibility for in-house counsel admission.
• 5+ years of relevant legal experience gained in-house and/or at a law firm advising corporate clients.
• Broad corporate legal experience across governance, privacy/data protection, contracts, and nonprofit/ tax-exempt matters.
• Strong legal research, analysis, drafting, and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice to internal stakeholders, affiliates, and related entities across a broad range of corporate matters.
• Advise on corporate governance, including governing documents and fiduciary duties.
• Assist with identifying legal/regulatory risks and developing business-focused solutions.
• Provide guidance on tax-exempt/nonprofit considerations affecting programs and operations.
• Partner with Human Resources on employment-related matters and risk mitigation.
• Advise on privacy, cybersecurity, data protection, and related compliance requirements.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and manage outside counsel relationships.
• Develop and deliver training on relevant legal and compliance topics.
