Tallgrass seeks a Senior Counsel – Construction Claims & Project Execution to act as the Owner’s lead legal resource for contractor claims, change orders, and disputes on major construction projects. The role works with Project Management, Project Controls, Engineering, Procurement, Commercial, Finance, and outside counsel to protect the Owner’s position from initial claim through resolution.

The successful candidate combines sophisticated construction-law experience with practical understanding

Qualifications

• J.D. and bar admission are required.
• 10+ years of construction/EPC legal experience preferred.
• Experience representing owners in contractor claims and disputes.
• Familiarity with EPC change orders, delay/disruption claims and damages.
• Ability to manage outside counsel budgets and matter reporting.

Responsabilités

• Lead legal evaluation and management of contractor and vendor claims.
• Draft and negotiate change orders, amendments, releases, and settlements.
• Advise executive leadership on significant claims and exposure.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders to document resolutions.
• Train project personnel on claims avoidance and preservation of rights.
• Ensure DOA governance and executive approvals for commitments.

Formation

J.D. from an accredited law school

Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar

Experience representing owners in contractor claims and disputes

Experience with EPC change orders, delay and disruption claims

Negotiation with EPC contractors and outside counsel

Cross-functional collaboration with project teams

Strong legal judgment and risk assessment
