Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation is seeking a Senior Counsel — Litigation & Disputes to lead and manage complex litigation across the company’s global operations. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience handling commercial and construction disputes and will work with internal teams and outside counsel to drive favorable outcomes.

You will coordinate with project management, commercial, and risk teams, provide strategic legal advice, and support negotiations and settlements.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 5 years of relevant legal experience focused on commercial and/or construction disputes.
• Experience with major arbitration forums (ICC/LCIA/AAA/ICDR) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Represent the company in managing litigation, arbitration, mediation, and other dispute resolution matters internationally.
• Advise on construction-related disputes including delays, liquidated damages, disruption, defective work, and change orders.
• Manage outside counsel to align litigation strategy with business objectives and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with project management, commercial, and risk teams to mitigate legal risks on projects.
• Assist with pre-dispute strategy, settlements, waivers, and dispute resolution clauses.
