Job summary

Tallgrass seeks an experienced attorney to support traditional midstream operations and energy transition ventures, focusing on services, procurement and construction contracting, project support, and cost recovery.

You will partner with Procurement, Project Management, Operations, and Finance to negotiate, administer, and enforce contracts with a strong emphasis on risk management and continual process improvement.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of seven years of experience in-house or with a law firm supporting corporate and business operations.
• Significant experience in construction, procurement, and project support.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, interpreting, enforcing procurement and construction contracts.
• Experience with contract administration, contractor claims, change orders, invoice disputes, cost recovery, and preservation of contractual remedies.
• Must be licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
• Experience using contract lifecycle management systems and AI-enabled tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and support procurement, project, and vendor agreements across goods and services.
• Provide legal support throughout project lifecycles including kickoff, strategy, template management, and closeout.
• Advise on interpretation, enforcement, and administration of contracts to protect the company.
• Support cost enforcement, including reviewing pricing, noncompliance, and disputed charges.
• Assist in improving contract governance processes and playbooks.
• Provide practical contracting training to non-lawyers and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Projects, Finance, and Operations to improve controls and risk visibility.
• Maintain awareness of AI-enabled tools like DocJuris and related technologies.
