Job summary

Tallgrass is hiring a senior in-house Counsel to provide legal support across carbon capture, Tallgrass Water, and fiber initiatives. You will draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements while advising on complex regulatory frameworks and 45Q tax considerations.

The role requires JD, 10 years of legal experience, U.S. licensure, and ability to travel. Strong MS Office skills and independent, detail‑oriented work style are essential.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited institution.
• Ten (10) years of relevant legal experience.
• Must be licensed to practice law in the U.S.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers (for travel).
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate carbon sequestration and transportation agreements, carbon sales agreements, and carbon capture agreements.
• Draft, review and negotiate purchase and sale agreements for fresh water and gathering and disposal agreements.
• Experience drafting indefeasible rights of use agreements for fiber infrastructure.
• Draft, review and negotiate joint development agreements, developer services agreements, development funding agreements, and related agreements.
• Provide strategic advice on transaction structures taking into account state and federal regulatory schemas.
• Provide strategic advice on transaction structures taking into account 45Q tax requirements.
• Facilitate and oversee outside counsel.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings, other internal meetings and meetings with customers, investors, partners, other third parties, and/or regulators as requested.
