Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in the Mid-Atlantic region is seeking a Senior Counsel to manage a portfolio of complex litigation, including medical malpractice claims arising in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The role partners with outside counsel to develop strategies and provide practical legal guidance to operational leaders and risk professionals.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in litigation, including discovery, motions, and trial preparation.
• Minimum ten (10) years as a practicing lawyer.
• Juris Doctorate is required or equivalent.
• State Bar license in any state KP does business in.
• Experience managing outside counsel and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and negotiate complex legal documents and provide expert guidance to clients and teams.
• Conduct and oversee highly complex legal research and analysis to inform strategy.
• Lead legal risk assessment and advise senior stakeholders while managing outside counsel.
• Formulate and manage litigation strategy and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders on risk and compliance.
