NineDot Energy is seeking a Senior Counsel, Commercial & Construction to join our Brooklyn team. You will negotiate, draft, and manage a broad range of commercial and construction contracts and vendor agreements with general contractors, subcontractors, equipment suppliers, and service providers.

The role partners with Project Development and cross-functional teams to structure contracts, assess risk, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Qualifications

• Law degree from an accredited law school and NY bar eligibility.
• 7+ years of experience in law firms, startups or in-house legal departments.
• Experience with renewable energy, community-scale energy or energy storage preferred but not required.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and contract management skills.

Responsabilités

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, construction agreements, procurement contracts, vendor agreements and other legal documents.
• Collaborate with Project Development on new offerings and revenue strategies to structure contracts.
• Advise internal stakeholders on legal risks, contract interpretation, and dispute resolution strategies.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams (construction, engineering, supply chain, project finance, insurance, EHS) to align terms with business objectives.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws including environmental and labor regulations.
• Assist in policy development to streamline contract management processes.
• Manage relationships with external counsel as needed for specialized matters.
• Stay updated on industry trends affecting renewable energy.
• Support litigation matters related to contracts and other areas.
