Job summary

Turner & Townsend in Chicago is seeking an experienced Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to deliver cost management services on complex construction projects and programs. The successful candidate will manage relationships with stakeholders and drive cost control through the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in cost management, preferably with an RICS accreditation or progress toward it, and experience on medium to large projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant cost management experience in construction.
• RICS accredited or working towards it is valuable.
• Experience supporting cost management on medium or large construction projects.
• Construction consultancy experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise client on strategies, managing prequalification of vendors, assessing proposals, bids, and bidlevellingdocuments, making final recommendations to the client, attending & chairing bid interviews, and managing appointment process.
• Develop project estimates relating to construction, fees, direct work and other costs; review estimates by junior team members; present estimates to client with value engineering and risk assessments.
• Establish cost reporting schedules; review and present cost reports and forecasts; maintain commercial risk register; lead meetings with project team and vendors.
• Manage cost control by reviewing payment assessments, liaising with project managers on entitlements, and handling change orders and disputes.
• Oversee invoicing, post-contract audits and final accounting; conduct post-contract reviews and lessons learned.
• Apply SOX controls where applicable and uphold procedures for handover of project.
