Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager and/or Quantity Surveyor for our Chicago data center construction projects. The role interfaces with clients to deliver value-added cost management, manage budgets, and provide leadership on site.

Based in Chicago with occasional travel to project sites in Minooka, IL, the candidate will oversee cost estimation, cost planning, change control, and VE exercises, ensuring timely cost reporting and successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or field related to construction.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience in cost management on construction projects.
• RICS accreditation preferred or working towards it.
• Experience leading cost management on medium to high complexity projects.
• Construction consultancy experience preferred.
• Good knowledge of procurement, value management and value engineering.

Responsibilities

• Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Provide cost planning including producing and presenting the final cost plan.
• Review and participate with design services team and general contractor in cost estimates.
• Reconcile changes and assist GC to ensure data accuracy.
• Prepare cost estimate updates and executive summaries for stakeholders.
• Coordinate all sources of cost information for discussions with suppliers and subs.
• Develop cost plans and estimates through the design phase and VE sessions.
• Manage cost checks, valuations, and post-contract cost variances.
