Job summary

Ledgent Finance & Accounting in Pleasanton, California onsite is seeking a Senior Accountant - Cost & Inventory to own monthly inventory accounting and cost close, analyze variances, and prepare journal entries. The role partners with operations to improve cost controls and GAAP compliance.

The position supports budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis related to inventory and manufacturing; requires 4+ years in cost accounting in manufacturing, with advanced Excel and ERP experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 4+ years of accounting experience, including cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with inventory accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing and CPG operations.
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar).
• Knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly inventory accounting and cost accounting close activities.
• Analyze inventory balances, reserves, variances, and manufacturing costs.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Monitor standard costs and assist with cost roll-ups and annual cost updates.
• Partner with operations and supply chain teams to investigate inventory discrepancies and manufacturing variances.
• Support physical inventory counts and cycle count programs.
• Analyze production, labor, overhead, and material usage variances.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis related to inventory and manufacturing operations.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls over inventory and cost accounting processes.
• Support external audits and provide required documentation and analysis.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies.

East Bay, California (Onsite) Salary: $85,000 - $115,000 + Bonus Potential Industry: Manufacturing / Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG)

Key Responsibilities

• Own monthly inventory accounting and cost accounting close activities
