LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager for a manufacturing client in Alameda, CA. This high-visibility role leads cost and inventory accounting, closes monthly cycles, and partners with FP&A, Operations, and Supply Chain to deliver accurate reporting.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, 6+ years of related experience (MBA qualifies for 5+), strong Excel and ERP skills, and must be on site in Alameda five days a week.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and analyses for inventory and cost accounting.
• Analyze COGS and inventory movements and provide management commentary.
• Reconcile inventory between book and perpetual systems; coordinate with FP&A, Operations and Supply Chain.
• Drive process improvements in inventory accounting, cost accounting, and reporting procedures.
• Support audits, system enhancements, and operational initiatives; assist external audits with PBCs.

Job description

Our client, an established and innovative publicly traded manufacturing organization, is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to join their accounting team in Alameda, CA. This is a high-visibility individual contributor leadership role reporting directly to the Director of Cost Accounting. This position offers the opportunity to partner cross-functionally across Accounting, FP&A, Operations, and Supply Chain while driving critical cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial reporting activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and actively participate in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses related to inventory and cost accounting
• Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
• Perform detailed balance sheet and income statement flux analyses and provide management reporting commentary
• Reconcile inventory between book and perpetual systems
• Partner with FP&A, Operations, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate inventory and COGS reporting
• Drive process improvements related to inventory accounting, cost accounting, and reporting procedures
• Support accounting projects, system enhancements, and operational initiatives
• Coordinate external audit requests and provide PBC documentation
• Ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal accounting policies
• Train and mentor accounting team members while promoting continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Required Skills

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with a Bachelor's degree OR 5+ years with a Master's degree or MBA
• Strong cost accounting and inventory accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience supporting month-end close, reconciliations, financial analysis, and audit activities
• Advanced Excel skills and strong ERP system experience
• Ability to work onsite five days per week in Alameda, CA

Preferred Skills

• Experience within:
• Semiconductor manufacturing
• Hardware or electronics manufacturing
• Consumer products manufacturing
• Biotechnology or life sciences manufacturing
• CPA preferred but not required
• Public accounting Audit Managers with a strong manufacturing client portfolio are encouraged to apply
