Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Cost Estimator to join our US delivery team. The role supports municipal, industrial, and water projects, offering responsibility for major estimates and schedule integration.

The position primarily operates in an office environment with occasional site visits across multiple US locations. Ideal candidates have 15+ years in cost estimating or construction management, strong knowledge of AACEI guidelines, and credentials such as EIT, CCT, CST, LEED, DBIA or PMP.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years in cost estimating or construction management.

Responsibilities

• Cost Estimation Excellence: supervise, facilitate, and coordinate development of accurate, timely cost estimates for major capital and construction projects.
• Analytical Insight: analyze costs, materials, labor, bid docs, and specifications to deliver reliable estimates.
• Database Management: design, implement, and maintain cost estimating databases using various software.
• Value Management: review drawings and specifications to determine costs and drive cost-effective decisions.
• Validation and Guidance: evaluate third-party estimates and track market conditions to validate estimates for medium/large projects.
• Technical Skills: perform quantity take-offs for large concrete structures including formwork and reinforcement; contribute to scheduling.
• Documentation: write Basis of Estimate and Basis of Schedule reports.
• Client Collaboration: participate in client cost estimate and schedule reviews.
• Risk Assessment: establish site-specific estimating criteria for labor, equipment, and materials.
• Team Collaboration: develop estimating/scheduling team and US resources.
• Experience: 15+ years in cost estimating/construction management; experience with AACEI guidelines.
• Project Software Platforms: Proficiency in MII, Sage, InEight; scheduling in Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• Office Platforms: Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and MS Office.
• Construction Credentials: required EIT, CCT, CST, LEED Green Associate, Associate DBIA, PMP; preferred PE/CCP/PSP/LEED BD+C/DBP.
• Problem-Solving: ability to solve complex issues with professional judgment.
• Positive Attitude: collaborative spirit and positive outlook.
