Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Cost Estimator to join our municipal, industrial, and water project teams. In this role, you'll lead and coordinate detailed cost estimates for major capital projects, guiding outcomes and ensuring client satisfaction.

The position involves quantity take-offs, database management, risk assessment, and collaboration with design teams, with travel as needed and a strong emphasis on accuracy and value management.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 15 years in cost estimating, construction management, or related fields.
• Experience developing construction cost estimates and schedules at various design stages per AACEI guidelines.
• Proficiency with cost estimation software (MII, Sage, InEight) and scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project).
• Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and MS Office; strong documentation skills.
• Required credentials: EIT, CCT, CST, LEED Green Associate, Associate DBIA, PMP.
• Preferred: PE, CCP, PSP, LEED AP BD+C, Design-Build Professional.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, facilitate, and coordinate development of detailed cost estimates for major capital and construction projects.
• Prepare estimates by analyzing costs, materials, labor, bid docs, and specs.
• Design, implement, and maintain cost estimating databases.
• Collaborate with project teams for value management; review drawings and specs to drive cost-effective decisions.
• Evaluate third-party estimates and track market costs to validate estimates.
• Perform quantity take-offs for large concrete structures; contribute to project sequencing and scheduling of water projects.
• Write Basis of Estimate and Basis of Schedule documentation.
• Participate in client cost estimate and schedule reviews; ensure alignment with goals.
• Establish site-specific estimating criteria and direct cost/schedule risk analysis.
• Analyze critical path activities with the design team; support staffing and development of US resources.
• Assist management in developing a coherent estimating/scheduling team; contribute to staffing.
• Travel as needed; office-based with some site visits; compliance with project needs.
