Job summary

Lochner/Egis is hiring a Senior Cost Estimator to join a growing national practice focused on transportation projects. You will prepare and review cost estimates across design stages and support value engineering analyses.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and 10+ years of estimating experience, with familiarity in rail, highway, and aviation costs, and HCSS HeavyBid/Bluebeam/Agtek proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 10+ years of estimating experience.
  • Diversified experience in transportation projects (rail/highway/aviation).
  • Transit agency owner costs experience preferred.
  • Experience with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid preferred).
  • Professional Certifications preferred.
  • Familiarity with FTA guidelines and funding requirements.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Agtek).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates at all design stages (preliminary to release-for-construction).
  • Review estimates from consultants/contractors.
  • Prepare estimates for value engineering studies.
  • Assist in constructability reviews.
  • Support negotiations for contract changes and potential claims.

We are looking for a Senior Cost Estimator in any of our Lochner / Egis offices with preferences in Denver, Oklahoma, Seattle, Austin or Los Angeles offices.

The Impact Youll Make (Job Responsibilities)
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates at the preliminary, intermediate, final, and release-for-construction stages of design.
  • Review estimates prepared by consultants and contractors.
  • Prepare cost estimates for analyzing value engineering studies.
  • Assist in constructability reviews.
  • Support negotiations for settling contract change modifications and potential claims.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 10 or more years of estimating experience
  • Diversified experience in transportation projects with emphasis on rail, highway and aviation
  • Transit agency owner costs experience preferred
  • Experience with estimating software (HCSS Heavybid preferred)
  • Professional Certifications preferred
  • Familiarity with FTA (Federal Transit Administration) guidelines and funding requirements
  • Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software (such as:
    • HCSS HeavyBid
    • Bluebeam or similar tools
    • Agtek
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Construction methods and materials
    • Project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CM/GC, PDB)
    • Transit project components and systems

Compensation & Pay Transparency

At Egis, we believe transparency helps candidates make informed career decisions. As part of our commitment to an open and equitable hiring process, we've included the anticipated base salary range for this position below.

Anticipated Base Salary Range: $110,000 – $195,000 annually.

In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for incentive compensation, where applicable, as well as professional development opportunities, and other employee programs.
