Job summary

Egis is seeking a Senior Cost Estimator to join our Lochner/Egis family, with preferred offices in Denver, OKC, Seattle, Austin or LA. The role focuses on detailed cost estimation across design stages and collaboration with clients and contractors to ensure competitive, accurate bids.

Ideal candidates bring a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, 10+ years estimating experience, and proficiency with major estimating tools such as HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and Agtek.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 10+ years of estimating experience.
  • Diversified experience in transportation projects focusing on rail, highway and aviation.
  • FTA guidelines and funding knowledge helpful.
  • Familiarity with HCSS HeavyBid and other estimating software.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates at preliminary, intermediate, final, and release-for-construction stages.
  • Review estimates prepared by consultants and contractors.
  • Prepare cost estimates for value engineering studies.
  • Assist in constructability reviews.

We are looking for a Senior Cost Estimator in any of our Lochner / Egis offices with preferences in Denver, Oklahoma, Seattle, Austin or Los Angeles offices.

The Impact You’ll Make (Job Responsibilities)
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates at the preliminary, intermediate, final, and release-for-construction stages of design.
  • Review estimates prepared by consultants and contractors.
  • Prepare cost estimates for analyzing value engineering studies.
  • Assist in constructability reviews.
  • Support negotiations for settling contract change modifications and potential claims.
Qualifications
The Expertise You’ll Bring (Qualifications)
  • Bachelor ’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 10 or more years of estimating experience
  • Diversified experience in transportation projects with emphasis on rail, highway and aviation
  • Transit agency owner costs experience preferred
  • Experience with estimating software (HCSS Heavybid preferred)
  • Professional Certifications preferred
  • Familiarity with FTA (Federal Transit Administration) guidelines and funding requirements
  • Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software (such as:
  • HCSS HeavyBid
  • Bluebeam or similar tools
  • Agtek
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Construction methods and materials
  • Project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CM/GC, PDB)
  • Transit project components and systems

Compensation & Pay Transparency

At Egis, we believe transparency helps candidates make informed career decisions. As part of our commitment to an open and equitable hiring process, we’ve included the anticipated base salary range for this position below.

Anticipated Base Salary Range:

$110,000 – $195,000 annually.

We’re committed to making competitive offers that recognize the unique experience, expertise, and value each candidate brings to our team.

In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for incentive compensation, where applicable, as well as professional development opportunities, and other employee programs.
