Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage all inventory accounting activities, including standard costing and cost roll-ups within the ERP system.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing labor and overhead rates.
- Oversee cost of goods sold accounting for both manufacturing and service operations.
- Analyze production variances, including WIP, work order, purchase price, and inventory variances.
- Research inventory cost fluctuations and budget-to-actual variances.
- Establish, document, and maintain overhead allocation methodologies in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to inventory, COGS, and reserve accounts.
- Produce monthly and quarterly inventory and COGS variance reporting.
- Coordinate daily cycle counts and annual physical inventory processes.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations on inventory and costing initiatives.
- Participate in Engineering Review Board meetings to evaluate cost impacts.
- Support financial planning and analysis with fluctuation and trend analyses.
- Maintain internal controls and assist with SOX compliance requirements.
- Support external audit requests and tax preparation activities.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and accounting policy implementation projects.
- Assist with other accounting and finance projects as assigned.
Qualifications Needed
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
- CPA license preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience with inventory accounting, product costing, standard costing, and operations accounting.
- Experience performing variance analysis, including inventory, production, WIP, work order, and purchase price variances.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX 404 compliance requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience supporting audits and internal control environments.
- Public accounting experience preferred (2+ years).
- Experience with QAD and/or BlackLine preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
