Job summary

Build People is advertising a Senior Cost Accountant to own cost accounting methods, reporting and analysis across the business. The role is on-site in Maryland with a salary range of $80,000 to $100,000.

The successful candidate will conduct cost analysis, monitor variances, partner with operations and procurement, and present KPIs to management. A strong foundation in cost accounting and ERP systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
• 4–7 years of progressive cost accounting experience, ideally including a senior role.
• Strong grounding in cost accounting, standard costing and variance analysis.
• Proficient in Excel and ERP/accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct cost analysis to identify and evaluate cost saving opportunities.
• Analyze production costs, variances and performance against targets.
• Partner with cross functional teams on budgets and forecasts.
• Monitor and report on variances with clear explanations and recommendations.
• Prepare timely and accurate cost accounting reports, and present findings and KPIs to management.
• Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation.
• Identify and implement process improvements across the cost accounting function.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and support internal and external audits.
• Develop cost estimates for new products and evaluate the profitability impact of cost changes.
• Work with operations and procurement to gather information and provide financial insight for decision making.

Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Build People is representing a global, family-owned manufacturer with over a century of operating history in the US and distribution worldwide. They are hiring a Senior Cost Accountant to own cost accounting methods, reporting and analysis across the business.

What You Will Do

What We Are Looking For

• Strong grounding in accounting principles and cost accounting methodology
• Proficient in standard costing, inventory valuation and variance analysis
• Advanced Excel, plus experience with an ERP or accounting system
• Manufacturing or multi entity experience preferred
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
