Job summary

Cox Enterprises is seeking a Corporate Counsel for Data Licensing & Governance to serve as a legal partner across sourcing, licensing, use, sharing, and governance of data across Cox products and platforms.

The attorney must be an independent generalist with 6+ years of negotiating data licensing, and experience in data governance, privacy, and technology transactions. Hybrid work option available and base salary is generous.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar admission.
• At least six years of experience negotiating complex data licensing agreements.
• Experience in data licensing, data governance, privacy, data commercialization, or related tech transactions preferred.
• Business-minded attorney with client counseling, collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely advice on day-to-day data licensing and data commercialization topics to management and teams.
• Establish deep knowledge of Cox's data assets, products, and data flows.
• Draft, review, and negotiate data licensing agreements and related terms.
• Manage legal support for data licensing transactions and coordinate with business stakeholders.
• Advise on governance, privacy obligations, and regulatory risk in data use.
• Assist in developing data-enabled products, analytics offerings, and partnerships.
• Review data-related documentation for compliance with approved data use parameters.
• Engage outside counsel effectively as needed.
